For Noob2NFTs first Project Spotlight I’m excited to talk about my all time favorite ETH project, Roaring Leaders!

Why is Roaring Leaders my favorite project you ask? Because in my opinion no other NFT project has worked so hard to provide its holders with utility. Roaring Leaders has done it all, from deflationary mechanisms, to staking, to breeding an entirely new collection to much, much more.

Launched in September of 2021 by devs Treasure Seeker, Dayhzz & Nerd Minter, with art by Marvel artist Carlos Dattoli, Roaring Leaders started off with two separate collections. You had the Genesis series, which has only 100 Genesis Roaring Leaders, and then also their general set of 10,000 Roaring Leader NFTs made up of an array of lions, tigers, pumas, leopards & cheetahs. To increase the rarity of the general collection they allowed holders to “burn” their NFTs for elixirs and Leaders Fund Shares (more on these shares in a minute). The elixirs were used to upgrade another Roaring Leader to give it additional attributes and increase rarity. This meant that if you minted only basic NFTs you could now burn a couple of them to make the others you held more rare and because the burnt Roaring Leaders no longer existed, this brought the total number of NFTs in the project down from 10,000 to 8,245 which made the rarity of those NFTs leftover rise numerically as well.

But that’s not all they did! If you burnt your NFT you also received a Leaders Fund Share to take its place. This share, along with any Roaring Leader NFT, gives you a stake in the Leaders Fund, which is a giant ETH pool that the project’s devs, and the incredibly talented NFT investor Nerd Minter (her Twitter is linked above), have procured for all its holders. In addition to 3% in secondary sales given to the fund, they have swapped and traded blue chip NFTs that the community has voted on and have stacked ETH on ETH! The fund currently sits at about 300 Ethereum which is about $600,000 at the time of this writing (May of 2022). 

Another great utility Roaring Leaders offers its holders is its staking platform. Each NFT you take off the market and set aside (“stake”) earns you $ROAR, which is a deflationary token that has a number of uses (see image below). Each Roaring Leader earns 10 $ROAR a day while each Genesis Roaring Leader earns 100 per day. My favorite $ROAR utility is being able to use it to win Roaring Leaders Auctions that the project puts up. They often collaborate with other NFT projects so that you can win NFTs from different collections as well. I have won and paid for several NFTs with $ROAR alone. It’s fun and exciting to win, especially because you are “paying” for them with passive income you’ve earned simply from staking your Roaring Leaders. More Recently, the team has also just received approval for $ROAR to be bridged between Ethereum and Polygon which will drastically reduce gas fees and allow micro transactions in the already contracted Merch/Jungle Store!

In December of last year (2021), Roaring Leaders launched a subsidiary project, Casino Cubs (formally known as “Roaring Roccstars”). They offer both the traditional route of directly minting the NFTs for .11 ETH or you can breed two Roaring Leaders to generate a Cub. In order to breed you had to have a male and a female Roaring Leader NFT. If you don’t have one of each yourself (as there are fewer female Roaring Leaders than males) then you can rent another holder’s NFT to breed your cub. To facilitate this process the devs even created an app called Jingle so that people can post their Roaring Leaders, and the cost for renting them, to make Cubs.

So, why is it so great in my opinion, that Roaring Leaders is doing all this when so many other projects are doing similar things? Because they have been one of the first to provide many of these utilities, and while other projects might only implement one or two of them, Roaring Leaders has encompassed them all. And there’s still more to come! They continue to work hard to make gainful trades of blue chip NFTs for the Leaders Fund, they have bought a massive 65 ETH plot of NFT digital land in the Metaverse on Decentraland, they have collaborated with celebrities for endorsements, like multi platinum, multi Grammy nominated producer and writer, Roccstar, they’ve organized giant multi-NFT project poker tournaments, they are currently working to create a Web3 casino where owners of the Casino Cubs NFTs will receive a share of the profits, and they’re also producing 3D avatars of the Casino Cubs collection, so they can roam free in the Metaverse. There are lots of incredible things still to come for this project and that’s why I’m super bullish on them and it is definitely one of my favorite collections out there.
